Dallas Cowboys Season Review:

The 2006 season saw Bill Parcells leading the way for his fourth season as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.  The season began with the team trying to improve on their 9–7 record in 2005.  Although they failed to do so, their record was good enough for second place and a spot in the NFL Wild Card round of the Playoffs.

The Cowboys added very controversial wide receiver Terrell Owens added to the office.  Drew Bledsoe started the season as quarterback but was replaced by Tony Romo whom fans were yelling to see in action.  Romo and Owens were an immediate duo to contend with in the NFL although their relationship was quite rocky.

The cowboys made the wild card round but lost on a last minute error by Tony Romo who botched the snap on a 19 yard field goal.  He then tried to get to the end zone but was stopped just short.  This was the start of several other bad losses with Romo at the helm.

Dallas Cowboys Highlights:

  • Julius Jones snapped a streak of futility for Dallas by being the first running back since Emmitt Smith to rush for 1,000+ yards in a season
  • DeMarcus Ware had 11.5 sacks in 2006, the most in team history by a linebacker.
  • Terrell Owens and kicker Mike Vanderjagt join the cowboys through free agency
