More info from DCA on Ring of Honor inductee Cliff Harris:
Cliff Harris, undrafted following a solid football career at Ouachita Baptist University , Arkadelphia , Arkansas , proved to be yet another of the Dallas Cowboys small school finds. Harris, a safety, joined the Cowboys camp in 1970 where he was met by a star-studded defensive backfield.
Nicknamed “Captain Crash” for his jarring hits, Harris would go on to have a standout 10-year career with the Cowboys that included six Pro Bowl selections, two Super Bowl titles, and a member of the NFL’s all-decade team for the 1970’s. The Cowboys defense, with Harris in defensive backfield, ranked in the top 10 in the league each of his 10 seasons, including leading the league in 1977.
Harris was at his best in the postseason. During his career, he participated in five Super Bowls making him one of only 13 players in NFL history to have played in five Super Bowls. Only one other player in NFL history has appeared in more Super Bowls.
As a result of his stellar career, Cliff Harris was inducted in the Ring of Honor in 2004.
